Did treatment with gel testosterone help improve cognitive function and memory in men aged 65 years and older diagnosed with low testosterone and age-related memory impairment?
The Cognitive Function Trial, part of the larger, placebo-controlled Testosterone Trials, attempted to answer this question. Results were published in JAMA.
From baseline to 6 and 12 months, no significant mean change was seen in the treatment or placebo groups. Participants were tested on delayed paragraph recall, visual memory, executive function, and spatial ability.
